Serving during a time of alliance with the Ottoman Empire, St. Pavel was permitted access to the Mediterranean via the Bosporus Strait and took part in various blockades and attacks on French positions in that theatre.
As the flagship of Admiral Ushakov, she was to serve in an allied assault on Malta under Horatio Nelson, but the attack never came to fruition.
She was paid off at Sevastopol in 1805 prior to being refitted as a floating battery in 1806.
