Of course these do not need to be Viking carpenters at all. They could equally well be working as siege engineers in Frederick Barbarossa’s army (motto: “if you made that thing, then you will handle it too !”) or in cathedral construction which was also done quite a bit in those days.
Early Medieval Carpenters / Shipbuilders
$4.00
This collection originally came about because someone wanted something other than the usual seated oarsmen or standing archers/axemen/spearmen for a Viking longship that they had just printed out. They wanted carpenters, shipbuilders.
The equipment that the men in this set use is based on historic dimensions and shapes. Some of the shapes will require care when printing out at 1:72 scale, your result will be more robust when using 1:56 scale or larger.

Areas of interest are: late Roman Empire, Migrations after the collapse of the Western Empire (Langobards, Burgundians, Vandals, Goths, Huns etc), Viking age, Early Holy Roman Empire period up to and including crusades of all kinds. The figures will not just be warriors but ordinary people doing ordinary things such as farming or carpentry. Ships will not just be highly specialized warships but supply ships, etc.. Same for buildings and other structures.
Another area of interest are crews, cannon and other implements for warships from the age of sail. While they can be used to populate model ships, they can also become independent game markers for each piece of ordnance and its crew as used by a given nation during a given time-period.
