Dutch K-class submarines (K-XI and K-XIV classes)

The XI class was a class of 3 Submarines (K XI, K XII and K XIII) of the Royal Netherlands Navy used in the Dutch colonial waters. All 3 ships saw service in WW2, with the K XIII being damaged by a battery explosion and scuttled to prevent capture by the Japanese.

  • K XI decommissioned April 1945
  • K XII decommissioned May 1944
  • K XIII scuttled March 1942

The XIV was a class of 5 Submarines of the Royal Netherlands Navy used in the Dutch colonial waters.

  • K XIV and K XV survived WW2.
  • K XVI sunk Dec 1941 by I 66
  • K XVII sunk Dec 1941 struck by a mine
  • K XVIII scuttled March 1942, later raised by the Japanese and used as an air warning picket hulk. Sunk June 1945 by HMS Taciturn.

The K XIV model comes in 4 different versions, to show the external twin torpedo mount.
