The Model 1938 M-30 122mm Howitzer was employed by the Red Army as its “go-to” medium howitzer throughout the Second World war, from the Winter War with Finland through to the Battle of Berlin. Captured models were use against their former owners by the resourceful Finns. It was then distributed to Soviet client states in the Cold War and was used in the many Middle East conflicts and the Vietnam Wars. It remains in service with some minor powers to this day.
The FDM file
FDM file contains seven (7) distinct parts
- Barrel
- Gun Shield
- Gun trails (2)
- Axle
- Wheels (2)
I suggest printing in a filament other than black, as there will be support material that will need to be removed, and it is difficult to see if the filament is too dark – e.g. around the gun sights and traverse wheels.
The assembly should be self evident (contact me at [email protected] if you have any issues.
Print on “fine” – .1mm layers, with “support everywhere”
The gun barrel fits between the trunnions and there is a semi-circular indent on tis underside that mates with the gun carriage. Glue the barrel at whatever angle suits you.
ALWAYS test fit before gluing.
The SLA file
SLA file contains two (2) parts
- Barrel
- Gun Carriage
Print the barrel as posted; 90 degrees to your bed. I used Prusa auto supports with the gun carriage at approx. 35 degrees to the bed, but you may choose an alternate angle.
