This is a derivative of Jarlangs excellent 1/72nd scale model of the Italian’s Fiat 626. This transport was used extensively by the Italians and also by Axis allies Germany and Bulgaria.
I started with the file, upsized it to 1/56th – 28mm scale. I did some modification to the file –
- redid the grill to ease printing
- cleaned up the Hull base to increase strength and a solid base for printing
- added wipers to windshield
- added the underside spare wheel
- created a pintle mount Fiat 8mm MMG for an optional arming of the transport (both historical – please see the pic – and game wise).
I belatedly thought of a way to ensure the pintle mount MMG could be remove and reattached more easily; I notched the forward face of the cargo box and fashioned the MMG mount to fit. Sorry I didn’t think of this as an option when I printed. both the original and Plan “B” files are included – the new ones are aptly titled “Cargo box B” and “MG mount B”
I drafted this file and print at the request of a friend who is expanding his Italian arm, thus it is not painted; in fact it is not even glued; the pieces are just “press fitted” for the pics.
I did a file for the cargo bed tarp cover but have not printed it. I can not see any issue with it printing though. The recipient of this model did not request a cargo cover.
Please note the CAD screen capture pic – the spare wheel must be affixed before the truck bed is affixed. Also please make sure you put that cargo bed on correctly. The tail gate should be obvious but mistakes can happen, so ALWAYS test fit before gluing!
The resin files are a “all in one”; the wheels are part of the hull model; I did this for my own use, modifying the FDM file; plus added a new Breda MMG of my own design.
