Admiralen class Destroyer – Batch 1

$9.00

The Admiralen class Destroyers were a class of 8 ships of the Royal Netherlands Navy, build in two different versions. All fought in WW2 and none survived the war.

The ships could carry a sea-plane for scouting, which was an interesting feature for a Destroyer, although the plane had to be lowered in the sea by a crane, no catapult was present.

The ships were build in 2 batches. Each batch with difference in weapons and usage. Both carried four 120mm guns, with some minor difference in the mounts, four 13mm (.5 inch) Browning Machine guns, 4 depth-charge launchers, and 6 torpedo-tubes (2 x 3)

Batch I had the option for mine laying and carried two 75 mm AA guns.

Batch II was focused on mine-sweeping, carried one 75 mm AA, four 40 mm AA and carried 4 extra torpedo’s for a limited torpedo re-load at sea.
