The 1RL 239 (ARK-1) ground artillery reconnaissance and fire support radar system was mounted on the MT-LBu chassis. It was designed to identify the positions of firing mortars, artillery and tactical missiles. It had an integrated power supply unit for the radar systems, and entered service with Eastern Block countries in the 1960s. It complements the model of the 2S1 122mm SPH, and the associated command vehicles. Information is not extensive, but the vehicle has recently been spotted in operation in the occupation of Ukraine.
Two models are provided, one with separate tracks for use on fdm printers, and an integrated one for resin printers. Two separate radar antennas are provided, one in travelling position, and one in operating position. These units can be fitted onto either chassis. The tracks are best printed flat on the printer bed, with the outside pointing away from the bed. Removal of supports can be tedious, but this is a limitation of the printing technology and the slicers.
The product was updated on 22 July 2022 to correct a defect in the tracks, and to reduce the complexity of the tracks to ease slicing and printing. All files have been cycled through Microsoft 3D Builder, which is among the strongest in fixing stl file defects. I have not been able to print the latest simplified resin versions, but I see no reason why these would have any challenges, as earlier more complex versions were fine. Let me know if any issues arise.
The product is offered for personal, non-commercial use. Derivative designs for personal use may be generated, but neither the original nor derivatives may be shared with others. Attribution of the design is requested should printed models be exhibited or otherwise shared. Models printed from this design or derivatives may not be sold commercially.
