The M41 Walker Bulldog was an American light tank developed to replace the M24 Chaffee (see separate model). The US Army wanted a scout tank with a more powerful armament, and selected a 76mm gun as the main armament, resulting in a significantly larger design. It was an agile and well armed vehicle, but was noisy, fuel-hungry and heavy enough to cause problems with air transport. The Walker Bulldog saw limited service in Korea, but suffered problems with its range finder. The tank was extensively used by the ARVN in the Vietnam conflict, though it was being replaced by the M-551 Sheridan tank with the US forces (see separate model).
The M41 was also exported to Brazil (300), Spain (180) Chile (60), Dominican Republic (12), Guatemala (10), New Zealand (10), Somalia (10), Taiwan (675), Thailand (200), Tunisia (10), Lebanon (20), Denmark (53, upgraded to DK1 standard later), West Germany, Belgium and other countries. Many of these tanks were upgraded to prolong their life. Some are still in service.
The design is made available in formats suitable for resin and fdm printers. The former is an integrated design with separate hulls and turret, with the fdm version having separate track assemblies and hull. The tracks are accurate reproductions of the originals (somewhat thickened for strength) and may require some care in printing. A 50 cal MG can be added on the turret if required, but an integrated turret with this already integrated is made available.
The product is offered for personal, non-commercial use. Derivative designs for personal use may be generated, but neither the original nor derivatives may be shared with others. Attribution of the design is requested should printed models be exhibited or otherwise shared. Models printed from this design or derivatives may not be sold commercially.
