The FV434 is the maintenance member of the FV430 series of AFVs used by the British army since the 1960s. Some of these vehicles are still in sue, but it has been generally replaced by the maintenance version of the Warrior.
The FV434 has a modified rear hull to permit the carriage of a power pack or other large replacement items, and has a hydraulic crane to assist with the removal and insertion of such items on MBTs and other tracked and wheeled vehicles. It has proved to be an effective vehicle, and was well liked by its crews.
The model has separate wheel/track assemblies to ease printing, and should result in a pleasing model. Some items have been simplified or strengthened to suit this scale, but it is quite a detailed model. The crane is a separate part to avoid printing issues, and is provided in stowed and a deployed position. A simple model of the FN 7.62mm MG is provided for mounting on the commander’s cupola, should this be required.
