The M718 was the ambulance variant of the M151 MUTT. Production started in 1966, and the vehicle is still in service in some countries, though replaced by the HMMWV in the USA. These vehicles are longer and higher than the base M151, and can take up to three stretcher patients, or a mix of one stretcher and two seated casualties. The spare wheel and additional gasoline were mounted on the near side of the vehicle. The model is divided into two halves to ease printing, and is reflected as the A2 suspension variant. Two variants are provided, one with the low stretcher in the body, and one without. The additional stretchers (one is normally always fitted) are provided as separate items, and care is necessary in removing supports as the legs are fragile. The windscreen and tilt are separate items to ease printing whilst retaining internal detail; the latter also has the spare wheel integrated into the design. A separate steering wheel is provided, as this is too complex for integration into the main body. The wheels are the standard M151 design which compromises between scale accuracy and tread visualisation. Accordingly, variants with none, one, two and three stretchers can readily be generated from the elements provided in this product. Some fitting or filling may be required at the front end of the tilt / windscreen junction, as this is difficult to print perfectly.
A separate solid model is provided to ensure that a robust model is available for wargames. this is also divided into two parts to ease printing, and uses the same wheels. A separate spare wheel is provided for this model.
