The M520 was a widely used articulated truck of the Vietnam era. It gained a reputation as a ‘go anywhere’ stores delivery system, but was somewhat complex and difficult to drive, as it had no suspension and relied on the tyres to smooth its passage. It evolved from a US Army investigation into construction vehicles in its desire to add a versatile cross-country load carrier to its fleet. The model represents the version without crew cover, and is in three parts. The front and back are joined by the articulated link to permit movement and positioning as desired. The joining piece can be glued into place or can have a pin inserted to permit articulation. A separate small part can be used to complete the ball coupling to permit sideways articulation, but this is not strictly necessary, especially if the coupling is glued into a desired orientation. A separate windscreen assembly is provided if required. This part can easily be glazed using transparent plastic card.
The rear part is the cargo carrying body, and is represented with its side and rear doors shut for strength.
Wheels are provided separately and should be glued into place.
