The Class 80 switcher engine was another in the series of Einheitsloks (standardized locomotives) produced by Germany between 1927-1928. They took over shunting duties and local operations in rail yards near Leipzig and Köln, replacing the stables of aging locomotives there.
Despite only 39 examples of this class having been produced, they were well regarded by their crews. Despite a top speed of only 45 km/h (28mph) they were reliable, simple to maintain and surprisingly powerful for their small size. Many found use in private industry after being retired from official service in the 1970s.
This is a model of a German steam locomotive suitable for wargaming in 15mm scale. It has been designed to be printable on any standard FDM printer, such as the Ender 3. For rails, it is compatible with TT-scale 12mm gauge track, which is the same dimensions used by Battlefront Games’ railway scenery. Derivation from any real-world prototype has been done for ease of printing or durability in handling for tabletop wargaming.
