Brooklyn Class light Cruisers

The Brooklyn class cruisers were a class of 7 ships of the United States Navy. The Brooklyns carried a total of 5 triple 6-inch guns turrets, a total of 15 guns . More than any other standard USN cruiser.

The ships had hull no’s. from CL-40 (Brooklyn) up to CL-48 (Honolulu) CL-45 was not a Brooklyn class cruiser and is not included.

The St.Louis (CL-49) and Helena (CL-50) are considered a sub-class of the Brooklyns, with improved AA, had a modified machinery layout, a different aft deck-house and the first US Cruisers to be armed with twin 5-inch (127mm)/38-cal guns. And are not included in this set but can be found here.

Three designs are included;

1940 – As build. With limited AA, 2 cranes for the boats and no radar.

1943 – Version A and version B. With extra AA, radar added and 1 crane removed. Minor difference of AA layout next to the aft deck-house between A and B. Version B is based on pictures from the Brooklyn.
