The go-everywhere GOER family of articulated trucks was extensively used by the US forces in Vietnam. The vehicle delivered fuel to remote locations as necessary in all weathers. However, it was not easy to drive, and speed was severely limited on roads. Information on the family and this variant can be found at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M520_Goer and https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:M520_Goer.
This model represents the tanker variant of the family, and is a good representation of the vehicle, given the constraints of capturing the ‘feel’ of the family at this scale. The front driving portion is common to all GOER variants, and the rear section is depicted in travelling configuration, with the rear doors that accessed the pumps and valves closed. Wheels are provided as separate items, and an optional windscreen is also provided. The separate junction piece to link the two vehicle bodies permits articulation and a small second half to the coupling can provide more reliable joint, but is not essential and requires care in fitting.
