The concept of the regional express train, or ‘Eilzug’ was debuted in Germany in 1907. These trains stopped at only the most important locations along a route between two express destinations, and passengers then relied on local passenger traffic to connect with smaller regional stations. In the 1930s, new coaches were developed for this intermediate level service, which could also be used interchangeably with express trains. They had doors on each end, allowing passengers ease of access on and off at stops, but were larger, more comfortable, and designed for greater speed than the compartment coaches they replaced.

This is a model of a German railway car suitable for wargaming in 15mm scale. It has been designed to be printable on any standard FDM printer, such as the Ender 3. For rails, it is compatible with TT-scale 12mm gauge track, which is the same dimensions used by Battlefront Games’ railway scenery. Derivation from any real-world prototype has been done for ease of printing or durability in handling for tabletop wargaming.
