The 2S5 was introduced into service in 1978, replacing the 130mm M46 field gun battalions in Soviet artillery brigades at the Army and Front level. It is currently operated by Russia, Finland, Ukraine and Belarus. It uses a chassis modified from the SA-4 Krug surface-to-air missile system with good cross-country mobility, and can carry 30 152 mm rounds with a range of 28 kilometers, or 33-40 kilometers for rocket-assisted projectiles. In addition to high explosives, the gun can also fire HEAT, cluster, smoke and nuclear projectiles. Deploying to fire the gun takes 3 minutes, and it can sustain a rate of fire of 5 to 6 rounds per minute. Most of the crew, with the exception of the gunner, deploys outside of the vehicle while firing. It is usually accompanied by an ammunition carrier with an additional 30 rounds of ammunition.
Designs are provided in optimised form for fdm and resin printing (separate files). The latter is a hollow integrated design in two formats, travelling and firing. The gun is provided separately in firing position to permit mounting in different orientations. The former is in separate parts: the two track assemblies, the hull, the gun in firing and travel configuration, and the rear spade assembly in travel and firing positions. Some parts are small, and best printing seems to be achieved for these aprts with a finer nozzle, say 0.3mm.
The product is offered for personal, non-commercial use. Derivative designs for personal use may be generated, but neither the original nor derivatives may be shared with others. Attribution of the design is requested should printed models be exhibited or otherwise shared. Models printed from this design or derivatives may not be sold commercially.
