Deweycats Air Strike Maker for Bolt Action

One of the most thematic moments in a game of Bolt Action is when a player calls in an air strike. With version 3, the FAO’s reduced point cost, the American’s retaining their opportunity for a second strike, plus the Red Army’s new “Flying Tank” army rule, forward air controllers seem more attractive.
Most of us have acquired a few 1/72nd scale plastic models to represent the strike aircraft, and perhaps have fashioned a base for the model, all to dramatically create its brief opportunity for glory on the table.
I wanted to design a robust yet easily stored game aid that would
1) Mark the primary and secondary targets for the air strike, without interfering with the models on the table
2) Support the aircraft model and
3) Set up and pack away quickly
This stl pack includes two 6” OD circles, and markers to visual set the centre. One has a square tube at a 30-degree angle, with a square 6 mm x 6mm recess. This easily fits 5mm x 5mm x 10 “ clear acrylic rods, which are easily obtained off amazon or other suppliers.
A small nub (seen attached to the clear rod’s end in the photo) secures the aircraft to the rod's opposite end. It accommodates three 6mm x 2mm rare earth magnets. Another rare earth magnet is recessed on the underside of the model plane. Be sure to check the magnets’ polarity before gluing!
This allows the two targets to be quickly set up, units subject to the attach identified, and the aircraft to be set up on the table so the players can take the requisite photos of the (potentially) devastating air strike.
