T-34 Mod 1940

The T-34 was a medium tank developed by the Soviet Union during World War 2. Early models were armed with a 76mm L-11 cannon and weighed over 26 tons. Rushed into service to fend off the invading German Wehrmacht during operation Barbarossa, the T-34 was a cornerstone vehicle in changing the tide of battle. The T-34 featured impressive, sloped armor that was difficult for weaker German guns and could be easily mass produced.

By the end of the second world war, over 57 thousand T-34s had been produced, however only around 1,800 of these early versions were produced in 1940. The service history of this particular model of T-34 was short-lived, however as a family, T-34s boast one of the most famous and storied histories of any tank, including service in over 40 countries, with limited use to this day.

This 1/72 scale model of the T-34 intends to replicate the unique characteristics of this early version, and help it stand out amongst its more mass-produced companions. Notably, this includes the use of the weaker L-11 cannon instead of the higher velocity F-32. Many other unique details have been included throughout the model to best represent the 1940 variant in a historically accurate way.
