Model Description:
This download contains a highly detailed model of a 1941 model T-34 medium. Documentation and references for the real vehicle were rigorously studied to make the model as geometrically accurate as possible, except in the cases where printability would have to be sacrificed (such as the fender thickness).
The model is designed for resin 3D printing comes natively in 20mm (1/72) scale and includes a supported version for this size. Furthermore, the files are pre-hollowed, reducing the material requirements, improving the probability of print success, and ensuring no voids are present within the geometry.
The file is designed to be detailed enough to hold up well at larger scales however, including the common 28mm (~1/56) scale. Larger scales will have to be manually supported at present, however a future goal of TCR designs is to include supported files for larger scales, as well as a less-detailed version designed to function on FDM (filament) printers.
The model at its native scale took roughly 5 hours to print on an "Anycubic Photon Mono 4K" printer and has the following dimensions:
Length - 3.25" (83mm)
Width - 1.65" (42mm)
Height - 1.3" (33mm)
Historical Description:
The T-34 was an iconic medium tank used throughout World War 2. The vehicle saw constant upgrades throughout the war, with armaments ranging from the low velocity L-11 cannon on the original 1940 variants, to the much more powerful ordinance used on the T-34-85's towards the end of the war. This model represents the 1941 model of the T-34, featuring a hull design similar to the 1940 model, with early hatch designs. The turret on the 1941 stands out however, with a new roof layout. The most notable change is the upgrade from the 76mm L-11 to the 76mm F-34 cannon, which had a significant performance boost when it came to armor penetration.
The T-34 was the workhorse of the Soviet Armored divisions, with over 80,000 being produced between the variants, 35,000 of those being 76mm equipped vehicles. The vehicle saw production between multiple nations between 1940 and 1958. The 1941 variant was the first to upgrade to the F-34 cannon, which was the final production evolution of the 76mm equipped T-34 armament. Later versions of the T-34 saw other upgrades, primarily ergonomic, but did not see a firepower improvement until the T-34-85.
In Armored Advance:
In armored advance the T-34 (1941) is a run of the mill medium battle tank, playing a similar role to late Panzer IVs and 75mm equipped Sherman tanks. The T-34 armor profile is marginally superior to its competition due to the heavy sloping, this is offset by the cannon falling behind on armor penetration capabilities. The T-34 does have a notable edge in mobility over similar units, though this comes at a points premium.
