M5A1 Stuart

The M5A1 Stuart was a light tank developed by the United States during World War 2. The M5A1 Stuart was an improved version of the similarly named M3 Stuart that featured twin Cadillac V8 engines in a a redesigned hull. The modification made the M5 Stuart quieter and roomier then the previous M3 Stuart. Both versions of the tank were armed with the 37mm M6 cannon which was considered underpowered by many tank crews. The M5A1 Stuart would be generally replaced by the up-gunned M24 Chaffee light tank by the end of the war, however the M5A1 Stuart would see active service until the end of the war.

By the end of the second world war, 8,884 M5A1's would be produced, along with 1,778 M8 GMC howitzers based in the M5A1 chassis. The M5A1 Stuart was regarded as an intermediate light tank that served its role effectively while not being a necessary fan favorite amongst its crews.

This 1/72 scale model of the M5A1 intends to replicate the unique characteristics compared to the M3 Stuart. This most notable includes a redesigned hull. The M5A1 holds a less famous role in US armored fighting vehicles during WW2, but its importance and history cannot be overlooked.

This model comes pre-supported and ready to print in 1/72 scale. Unsupported files are also included, allowing you to adjust the scale to your preference. This model is designed with resin printing in mind and is not optimized, nor tested for traditional FDM (filament) printers.
