WWII French Horse Drawn Cavalry Medium Machine Gun Limber 1/56 scale.

This model represents the horse drawn Medium Machine Gun Cavalry Field Limber used by the French in WWII. The provision of a mobile weapons platform for the cavalry started in WWI using civilian wagons, these over the course of WWI were developed and continued to be modernised during the Inter War Period. I was asked to develop this model for a friend who wanted to add something visual to the cavalry sections in his 1/56 scale WWII French army.
I like to help the group of people I game with enjoy the visual side of gaming. This means being happy to have a go at creating unique models which are not commercially available. The request this time was to provide a limber to be placed along side existing French Medium Machine Gun teams painted up as Cavalry.
Given the detailed and small scale nature of this model I planned it from the outset to be primarily printed in resin. I suspect the limber can be printed in plastic at 0.1mm layer height or if your printer will achieve it, 0.06mm. I measured the length of the Warlord French MMG that I had in my own army and dropped Studio Grozny's excellent Japanese MMG based on the French Hotchkiss into MS 3D Builder for scaling purposes and began to try to make some magic.
This model is a new, several test models printed but not as yet tested by sales on Ebay and feed back from buyers.
The design work was done at 1/28 scale so the files you will receive can be used at that large scale but I do not recommend printing at small than 1/56 scale.
This listing will provide the following 1/56 scaled files Resin printing, files are duplicated with pre-supported versions.
These models were designed by Neal Bowskill Copyright June 2022, no printing for commercial gain permitted.
I hope in future months to be able to get the technical dimensions of the French Hotchkiss MMG when I do I will update this listing providing an MMG to be sat on the limber. I am thinking currently of trying to convert plastic Perry ACW cavalry riders giving them Adrian Helmets, French style water bottles and carbines if I can source them. If anyone has some ideas on this let me know. Ideally a friendly figure designer will create some bespoke riders and a foot figure or two holding the horses.
