M4A3 Sherman
The M4 Sherman was an American tank first deployed during World War 2 that first saw combat in October 1942 at the second battle of El Alamein. Sherman's were fielded by American, British, Chinese, Russian, and Free French forces during the war, and its service life continued into future wars. The final Sherman's used in active service were retired in 2018 in Paraguay, demonstrating the capability and long lasting effectiveness of this WW2 workhorse.
The M4A3 variant of the Sherman first saw combat in fall of 1944. Unlike other versions, this Sherman features a stronger 500hp engine and a welder hull. This version of the Sherman was equipped with the shorter 75mm M3 cannon. A reported 4,110 M4A3 Sherman's with the short 75mm gun were produced during the length of WW2, making it comparable to other version construction runs.
This 1/72 scale model of the M4A3 intends to deliver an accurate representation of this Sherman variant. It features the short 75mm cannon, as well as the flat welded hull, as well as an optional .50cal attached to the turret roof amongst other historically accurate features. These details help make the M4A3 stand out from other versions to help add diversity and historical accuracy amongst other Sherman models.
