M3 Grant
The M3 Lee/Grant was the precursor to the famous M4 Sherman tanks. The vehicle was developed by the United States as the M3 Lee, with a special turret being developed for Commonwealth forces. The vehicles equipped with this modified turret were called Grants. The Grant was a stopgap solution to mount a 75mm gun in a battle tank while the M4 was being developed. Since a turret was not yet designed that could carry the 75mm, the gun was instead mounted in the hull. The vehicle saw service in North Africa, where the powerful cannon coupled with decent angled armor made the vehicle very potent. It was able to knock out contemporary German and Italian armor at long range, while itself being immune to all but the most powerful German guns at those ranges.
In Armored Advance:
The Grant offers a cheaper alternative to the Sherman tanks, featuring slightly weaker armor and less health while still mounting the powerful 75mm M3 cannon, albeit in a fixed mount. This fixed mount does mean that the platform is less suited for the gun, as moving prior to firing will incur an accuracy penalty. The vehicle does feature a fully traversable 37mm cannon however, which can augment its shooting and afford some protection from lighter vehicles while the main gun is focused on heavier targets.
3D printing settings:
Dimensions:
Length - 3.18"; (81mm)
Width - 1.4"; (35.6mm)
Height - 1.58"; (40.1mm)
Estimated Print time - 4.5 hours
This model comes pre-supported and ready to print in 1/72 scale. Unsupported files are also included, allowing you to adjust the scale to your preference. This model is designed with resin printing in mind and is not optimized, nor tested for traditional FDM (filament) printers. The model was test printed successfully several times on an ANYCUBIC Photon Mono 4K resin printer. If you have any issues with the file, don't hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected]
