M48A2G2 MBT (Germany / USA)

This is a 1:100 detailed design of the modified M48A2GA2 used by Germany until it was replaced by the Leopard 2.  Designs suitable for resin and fdm printing are offered, with a separate rotatable turret.  The modifications includes a replaced gun (105mm), smoke dischargers and searchlight.

The German company Wegmann (Kassel) rebuilt 650 M48 series tanks to a new configuration known as the M48A2GA2. All vehicles were delivered between June 1978 and November 1980.

The modifications include the replacement of the 90mm Main Gun with a 105mm L7A3 rifled gun as installed in the Leopard 1, a thermal sleeve for the main armament, a new gun travelling lock, a new commander’s cupola, modified ammunition stowage, passive night vision equipment for the driver, commander and gunner and modifications to the fire-control system.

Two base variants are offered to suit the different needs of resin and fdm printing.  The former designs are fully integrated, and are offered in solid and hollow variants.  The fdm version has separate hull and tracks to ease the support design, and to simplify cleaning up.  The tracks may require minor adjustment to fit the hull, but this should be achieved readily.

The product is offered for personal, non-commercial use.  Derivative designs for personal use may be generated, but neither the original nor derivatives may be shared with others.  Attribution of the design is requested should printed models be exhibited or otherwise shared.  Models printed from this design or derivatives may not be sold commercially.
