Confederate Cottonclads 1/600 ACW ships
Two cottonclads. Ships armoured with cotton bales were used during the American Civil War by the Confederate navy in several engagements. The larger model depicts CSS Bayou City, which was in action at the Battle of Galveston off the Texas coast on January 1, 1863. The smaller model is based on CSS Uncle Ben, which was employed at Sabine Pass. Both can be used as generic cottonclads. The boarding planks on the painted model were made out of strips of thin plastic.
