The Comintern artillery tractor was in service with the red army from 1936. On January 1, 1941, the red Army had 1,017 of these artillery tractors. These vehicles could tow almost all heavy artillery systems.Captured artillery tractors were used in the Wehrmacht . In 1937, 30 of these machines were sent to China.
