USN Omaha class light Cruisers

  • Description
  • Files
The Omaha class cruisers were a class of 10 ships of the United States Navy. The Omaha's were used in fleet-screening role, and never acted in their design role as scouts. As in the end cruiser aircraft took over the tactical scouting role.

The ships had hull no's. from CL-4 (Omaha) up to CL-13 (Memphis)

During the life-time of  the Omaha's armament changed a number of times. The version provided is the ~1942 version. Lower torpedo tubes removed, the lower aft 6-inch guns were also removed and the case-mates plated over to prevent the very "wet" conditions. Mines removed and AA guns added.

The models are provided in 1/1000 scale and are Resin print only.

1/1800 - resize to 55,56%

1/1200 - resize to 83,5%

There are a number of bases provided, text recessed and the text raised. I used the recessed version for FDM printed bases. Finally a base without text is also included. Do not forget to also re-scale the bases if you print in 1/1200 or 1/1800 scale.

Bases provided for Omaha class and named bases for all ships in class.

Also included 1/1800 scale pre-supported model which I used for the test-prints on my Anycubic Mono SE (0.05mm layer) using standard resin. Use at your own risk, might be best you create your own supported files, which prints best on you own printer. Some parts are rather delicate, mainly the gun barrels, and you will need to remove support carefully.

The base was printed on an Ender 5 pro (0.16 mm layer) standard PLA. But could also be printed in Resin if you want, which will provide a better print compared to my PLA printed bases. (no supported file provided)
