Model Description:
This download contains a pair of highly detailed models of the 1943 models of the IS-1 and IS-2 Heavy tanks with the 85mm and 122mm cannons respectively. Documentation and references for the real vehicle were rigorously studied to make the model as geometrically accurate as possible, except in the cases where printability would have to be sacrificed (such as the fender thickness).

The model is designed for resin 3D printing comes natively in 20mm (1/72) scale and includes a supported version for this size. Furthermore, the files are pre-hollowed, reducing the material requirements, improving the probability of print success, and ensuring no voids are present within the geometry.

The file is designed to be detailed enough to hold up well at larger scales however, including the common 28mm (~1/56) scale. Larger scales will have to be manually supported at present, however a future goal of TCR designs is to include supported files for larger scales, as well as a less-detailed version designed to function on FDM (filament) printers. It is important to note that the vehicle is quite large, and may not fit on smaller resin printers, even at 20mm scale.

The model at its native scale took roughly 8 hours to print on an "Anycubic Photon Mono 4K" printer and has the following dimensions:
Length - 5.34" (136mm)
Width - 1.64" (42mm)
Height - 1.54" (39mm)

Historical Description:
The IS-1 was a heavy tank developed by the Soviet Union during World War 2. The vehicle was designed in response to the German tiger as an upgrade to the interim KV-85 heavy tank. The IS-1 was originally referred to as the IS-85 and was constructed by taking the KV-85 turret and a lengthened KV-13 hull. The vehicle's primary armament was the 85mm D-5T tank gun. The IS-1 began production in 1943 and would be replaced by the IS-2 in January 1944 with only 200 being produced.

The IS-2 was a heavy tank developed by the Soviet Union during World War 2 as a successor to the IS-1 heavy tank. The vehicle was designed as a breakthrough vehicle and featured a powerful 122mm D-25T cannon, able to fire potent high-explosive rounds as well as deal with heavy German armor. The 1943 version of the IS-2 featured the same hull as the IS-1, with the only real difference to the vehicle being the 122mm armament.

In Armored Advance:
In armored advance the IS-1 serves as a moderate armor upgrade to the KV-85. Its cannon is more powerful than many contemporary soviet armaments with decent penetration and a relatively high damage stat. The armor can be angled to increase its effectiveness due to the thicker side armor. Without angling the front is able to deflect some shots, particularly at range, but is not invulnerable to more powerful cannons, such as the Tiger's 88 or the Panther's 75.

In armored advance the IS-2 provides an alternative to the IS-1 tank. Its cannon is much more powerful than the IS-1's 85mm, at the cost of having a one turn downtime after firing. The armor can be angled to increase its effectiveness due to the thicker side armor. Without angling the front is able to deflect some shots, particularly at range, but is not invulnerable to more powerful cannons, such as the Tiger's 88 or the Panther's 75. The vehicle excels at crippling enemy vehicles with its high penetration and damage stats, meaning a single hit may knock out a tank.
