Marder II D ( Sd.Kfz. 132)

The Marder II D is the result of early war experiences with Soviet T-34s and KV-1s. The need for a replacement for the under powered, standard 37mm PaK 36 anti tank gun was evident. Large numbers of Soviet 7.62cm field guns were captured in the early months of the push into the Soviet Union. Due to their excellent penetration capability the Soviet guns were pressed into service with the nomenclature PaK 36(r). These guns formed the basis for both the Marder II D and the similar looking Marder III. Utilizing hulls from unused PZ II D light tanks and redeployed and rebuilt PZ II F (Flamingo) flame thrower tanks, new side and frontal armor plates were installed to protect the PaK 36(r) gun and crew. This vehicle formed the basis for new PanzerJaeger units. While its high silhouette and limited ammunition stowage were very real drawbacks, it's powerful gun was the only real answer to the T-34 and KV-1 until the new PaK 40 anti tank gun could be produced in larger numbers. This vehicles was used almost exclusively on the Eastern front during WWII.

This 1/56 scale model depicts the Marder II D with it's crew and a small, early war infantry contingent (to form a vignette if desired). As with all Tank Nerd Creations models, a detailed "Nerd Notes" pamphlet with assembly instructions and support tips is included. This set includes the Marder II D with and without stowage, three full crew figures, three full infantry figures. Both supported and unsupported formats are included. These models are intended for resin printing only.
