Russian storm troopers Heavy infantry, modern period
Assault units of the Russian Armed Forces are fighting in the most difficult areas of the offensive in the zone of the special military operation in Ukraine. The distinctive feature of such units is their ability to operate effectively in close combat, when the distance to the enemy is counted in meters. But storm troopers are often involved in more complex operations, including sabotage, adjusting artillery behind enemy lines and capturing strongholds far from the front line. A Lenta.ru correspondent spoke with members of one of Russia's sabotage and reconnaissance groups (DRGs) to find out how night raids are planned, what techniques help them hide from aerial reconnaissance, and why not everyone is able to adapt to combat work.
