US: Schooner (Lynx), 1812-1820
- Description
- Files
This privateer is based on the American schooner Lynx, built in 1812 for the purpose of running a Royal Navy blockade off Baltimore. Though she was a merchantman, she did carry a letter of marque and thus had the right to take prizes. Unfortunately the Lynx only completed one voyage before being captured in 1813 and taken into service as HMS Mosquidobit.
This ship's download includes both 1/700 and 1/500 "heroic" versions.
Two files are included, one with correctly sized proportions (as pictured) intended for use on a resin printer and another "chunkier" version for FDM usage. Please note that the FDM print hasn't yet been tested, so I would be most appreciative of any photos or feedback.
As of this time the model doesn’t include masts, as I’m still working on an effective system for printing them. In the meanwhile, I recommend using dowel or wire or, alternatively, using the masts provided with other 1/700 third rates on this site (simply widen the mast holes on the model and drill to the base; the masts will be of the correct size).
