Prins van Oranje class minelayers

The Prins van Oranje was a class of two minelayers of the Netherlands Royal Navy. Build in the early 1930s for services in the Dutch East Indies. Both ships were in services at the start of WW2, both ships were lost.

Hr.Ms. Prins van Oranje. Attacked 12 Jan 1942 by the IJN Destroyer Yamakaze and Patrol vessel PB38 and sunk by gunfire.

Hr.Ms. Gouden Leeuw. Scuttled near Surabaya to prevent capture by Japanese forces.decommissioned in January 1950.

The ships were armed with two 75mm Guns, two 40mm Machine Guns, two 12.7mm Machine guns and could carry 150 mines.

There is also a model and named base included for the Hr. Ms. Rigel of the Government Navy of the Dutch East indies, which was almost identical to the Prins van Oranje class models. It lacked the two 40mm Machine guns.

Hr.Ms. Rigel. Scuttled as block-ship at the northern port entrance of Tandjong Priok on the 2nd March 1942.

The models are provided in 1/1000 scale and are Resin print only.

1/1800 – resize to 55,56%

1/1200 – resize to 83,5%

Named bases base are provided. Text recessed and the raised. I used the recessed version for FDM printed bases. Finally a base without text. Do not forget to also re-scale the bases if you print in 1/1200 or 1/1800 scale.

Included 1/1800 scale pre-supported model for the Prins van Oranje class, which I used for the test-prints on my Anycubic Mono SE (0.05mm layer) using standard resin. Use at your own risk, might be best you create your own supported files, which prints best on you own printer. Some parts are rather delicate, mainly the gun barrels, and you will need to remove support carefully.

The base was printed on an Ender 5 pro (0.16 mm layer) standard PLA. But feel free to print the bases on a resin printer, that will give you much better text on the base, but no supported files for the resin-printing of the bases.
