Peruvian casemate ironclad!
Originally laid down as a merchant vessel named Collete, she was converted into a casemate ironclad based on CSS Richmond by Callao Naval Dockyard. The plans for the ironclad were provided by Commander Tucker CSN, and they, or a copy of them, are known to survive in Chile today in the hands of a private collector. While steaming around during testing, she ran aground on a sandbar in Callao Harbor. She remained here for some time. Despite her grounding and her being very poorly armed and armored, she saw some action during the Chincha Island War with Spain in 1866 as a floating battery in Callao. She saw no additional action during the war and she had her armor stripped and was recommissioned as a supply vessel in 1877. In 1881, during the War of the Pacific, she was scuttled with the rest of the Peruvian fleet at Callao to prevent her capture by Chile.
This ship is modeled in 1/600 scale and can be printed using any resin or FDM printer. Ship comes with and without base.
When printing in FDM, some details may be too small to print with a stock 0.4mm nozzle.
