At the start of the war, the improvement in the armament of the Panhard 178 made itself felt and Renault succeeded in creating a turret armed with the 47mm SA35 gun.

Appellation:

• AMD 35 P (Auto-Mitrailleuse de Découverte model 1935 Panhard) in the French Army or Panhard 178 in the manufacturer's catalog.
