NE: Dutch 3rd rates, 74 guns, 2-PACK

NOTE: While this ship awaits an update to fix the Washington's stern, (requiring a total remodel), it'll be at a discounted price.

This file contains two versions of a Dutch 74 gun 3rd rate, each with different stern options, each based on the lines of the Prins Maurits and Washington that both make for good approximations of late 18th century Dutch third rates.

Prins Maurits and Washington were both 74 gun Dutch 3rd rates of similar appearance. This pack contains two files, each with a different stern for whichever ship you should choose to model. The hull of both vessels is based on original Dutch line drawings for Prins Maurits, though some reference pictures of Washington had to be used to figure out the deck details.

Prins Maurits was launched in 1783 and captured by the British in 1797. Beyond that, I can't find any further information.

Washington, launched in 1796, was the flagship of a Dutch squadron that surrendered to the British on 30th August, 1799, during the Vlieter incident.

In addition to representing the two ships named here (from which the hull/sterns are modelled), this print could be used to represent other Dutch 74s built in the tail-end of the 18th century as, in all honesty, they did not greatly vary in appearance. Check out this thread for drawings/plans depicting their contemporaries and feel free to make your own judgements as to what ships these might make passable representations for. For those of you wanting to model the Battle of Camperdown, I'd say that these models could make adequate versions of Vrijheid and Staaten Generaal.

This ship boasts detailed deck planking, modelled cannons and open gun ports.

The model is currently optimised for FDM printing, with a more detailed “resin version” being planned for release as an update in the future.
