M113 APC (A1,A3 variants)
1:100 M113, A1, A3 APC models, with / without skirts
The ubiquitous M113 Armoured personnel carrier has been in service in many countries since it was launched in 1960 to replace the earlier M59. The vehicle introduced new aluminum armor that made it much lighter than earlier APCs - thick enough to protect the crew and passengers against small arms fire but light enough that the vehicle was air transportable and amphibious in relatively calm water. The first version was powered by a petrol engine, and combat experience showed that this was prone to catching fire. A diesel powered version replaced the original in production as the A1 model.

This product provides separate hulls, wheels/tracks and cupolas/hatches. The hulls are in two forms, the first with the rubber skirts, and the second with no skirts and bare wheels/tracks. A pair of hulls is provided for the M113/M113A1, and a separate version to cover the M113A2/A3, both of which had external fuel tanks as well as armour improvements (more extensive in the A3).
The separate wheel/track assemblies are common to all variants. These should be printed with the axles horizontal, ground contact tracks on the printing base, and supports from the base only, at 0.1mm resolution. This will take full advantage of the detail provided in these elements.
A number of cupola variants are provided, together with a separate rear hatch cover to permit this to be fixed in open or closed position. A rough model of a 0.5" MG is provided (based on the design by M Bergman - this is also available elsewhere).
Further testing revealed that the idler wheel on the tracks did not always print correctly. Accordingly, the appropriate file has been updated (8th July 2019).
