Landing Craft Infantry Small - LCI(S)

Waterline-model of Landing Craft Infantry Small. A smaller landing craft whch was used next to the larger LCI(L) types. The British Fairmile Marine designed and produced the Fairmile Type H landing craft, with the requirement to have limited impact on the already low supplies available, the craft is build from wood.

The craft was more suited for commando raids than large opposed landings, none self-sealing petrol tanks, wooden build and hardly any armour. The earlier models had a Round CDL(Canal Defense Light, I think it was called) tower amidships. The CDL tower is included as a separate part.

It could carry up to 102 troops for landing (Excluding crew – 2 officers and 15 men)

Armament 2 x 20mm Oerlikons (Included) and 2 x .303 Lewis guns (not included)

Model of LCI(Small) - Fairmile Type H Landing craft

The model has been prepared and detailed for 1:100 war-gaming (32cm long). Meaning the railing is a bit stronger to prevent breaking to easy. It is waterline model and not a complete hull design. The Hull would be below water and would not work on a gaming table. The model is based on original drawings.

Test-printed on a Creality Ender-5 FDM in 016mm and 020mm layer and Anycubic Mono SE 005mm layer. (See pictures) The hull and the large parts will print fine on a FDM printer in PLA, 016mm gives the best result. But off-course depends a bit on your own printer quality what works best for you. All the small parts have to be printed on a Resin printer. Those parts are just to small for a FDM printer.

The 3D-prints of Railing needs to be bent a bit after printing to fit the deck correctly. Main reason is that it is more easy to print it flat on the printer-bed. All railing parts are provided as separate prints, these you best print flat on the FDM printer bed.

I have added the complete hull, but also cut in 2 parts. I used those cuts for test-printing. But if you have large bed-dimension you could cut the model yourself.  Best to glue the railing first, before you glue the smaller parts, as that will help in making sure all deck-parts end up on the correct location.

For most of the Resin parts I have included Support files also, those worked fine for me. No guarantee they will work on our printer settings. So feel free to use, but might be best you create your own supported files.

It is a medium complex model, about 50 separate parts to print, so some modelling skills are required.
