GB: HMS Ontario, Snow (22 guns), 1780-1780

A snow is a square rigged vessel complemented by a smaller snow/trysail mast aft of the main mast.

HMS Ontario was a snow built and launched onto the Great Lakes during the American Revolutionary War. During her 5 month career she never saw combat and was solely used for ferrying troops, supplies and prisoners. She sank in a storm on the 31st of October, 1780.

Her wreck was discovered in May of 2008, but its location has not been disclosed to the public.

This ship's download includes both 1/700 and 1/500 "heroic" versions.

Don't forget to model your Snow's third mast correctly (see the sail diagram; it's a small mast just behind the main mast)! The completed snow that's pictured is missing it.

The model includes the option of being printed with or without deck spars (see the second rendered picture).

This ship boasts detailed deck planking, modelled cannons and open gun ports.

The model is currently optimised for FDM printing, with a more detailed “resin version” being planned for release as an update in the future.
