Deweycat SAS "Blitz Buggy" - for 28mm wargaming

The history of the birth of the SAS, or “Special Air Service”, and the exploits of David Stirling are legendary. Their daring missions into the Axis lines of communication are well documented and read like the scripts for thrillers.

In the forefront of the SAS ventures in the Western Desert was the “Blitz Buggy”, a Ford C 11 station wagon that Stirling reclaimed from a rear echelon salvage depot after it had been rolled. Stirling had the roof removed and mounted Vickers K MGs and adapted it to carry extra fuel and stores.

In Bolt Action the Blitz Buggy is offered in the Western Desert theatre list. The vehicle comes as veteran, with front facing one pair of Vickers Ks, and an optional second pair with a 360-degree cover.

This .stl pack is intended for resin only. Although manufactured in Canada, the C 11 was right hand drive, 2-wheel drive. The front Vickers were mounted on a post on the left side running board. In the model the second set of Vickers mount over the drivetrain hump in the floor, and can be glued for permanent placement, and stuck and removed with a pic of sticky-tac.

There are sets of fuel cans, modelled after the “flimsys” used by the British at that time. Two sets are part of the model, and an extra set of two cans are extra .stl, these can be fitted to the rear or front of the vehicle as desired.

A driver figure is included, wearing goggles and the Keffiyeh scarf favoured by many in that theatre. Alternatively, there are many fine metal figures as well as .stls by more gifted designers that will also fit the vehicle.

The files come as both the basic .stls as well as pre-supported, with a hollowed hull.

There are files included for resin printing

• Please note the pre-supported files for resin printing may not be ideal for your printer, resin, or settings. They are provided as a courtesy only, and while they worked well for me, your results may vary.
• Always clean support material away carefully and test fit before gluing.
