Conqueror heavy tank (British FV214)

A detailed 1:100 model of the British post-war Conqueror Mark 2 heavy gun tank suitable for fdm or resin printing.  This tank was developed to complement the early Centurion battle tanks and provide long-range fire support.  It was the first 'hunter-killer' tank with full dual target handling.

The FV200 series of tracked vehicles were a projected series of vehicles based on one common chassis, hence ‘Universal Tank’. The FV214 was one of the vehicles in this series, and was a design for a ‘Heavy Gun Tank’ - the Conqueror. It was an impressive vehicle, weighing 63 long tons (64 tonnes), armed with a powerful 120 mm gun, and protected by thick steel armour. It was an attractive but complex vehicle, and had an extremely short service life, in operation between 1955 and 1966, being considered surplus to requirements with the introduction of the L11 105mm gun on the Centurion tank.

The model is offered in two formats, an integrated version with a hull, turret and sub-turret for resin printing, and a second with the tracks and main hull separate to ease printing on fdm printers.  It is a challenging but satisfying model to print, resulting in an impressive model.  A small amount of simplification has been required on some of the smaller features, but it is a close representation of the original at 1:100 scale.  Track and suspension detail is to a high level, and the overall design is optimised to deliver a good 1:100 representation, having been designed at 1:50 and reduced, respecting minimum printable dimensions.

The product is offered for personal, non-commercial use.  Derivative designs for personal use may be generated, but neither the original nor derivatives may be shared with others.  Attribution of the design is requested should printed models be exhibited or otherwise shared.  Models printed from this design or derivatives may not be sold commercially.
