AMX-30B2 BRENUS

This is a 1:100 design of the up-armoured version of the French AMX-30 MBT.  A partial solution to the weak armour of the AMX-30 arose in the late 1990 when GIAT developed an Explosive Reactive Armor kit for it called Brenus.  This kit weighed some 2 extra tons and provided the additional protection equivalent of 400mm of steel angled at 60 degrees against HEAT rounds. The kit was also resistant against light autocannon fire of up to 20mm calibre.

Several AMX-30B2 tanks of the French rapid response units (the ones the most likely to get into the action first) were upgraded with the GIAT ERA kit, with two full battalions of AMX-30B2 tanks converted with fittings to carry this kit if the need arose. This variant of the AMX-30B2 MBT is known simply as AMX-30B2 Brenus, although the name is sometimes written in capital letters, or with double n, depending on the source.

This design is offered in two forms, one suitable for printing on resin printers and comprising of an integrated hull and separate turret, the former in solid and hollow versions to suit individual preference.  The fdm version has separate hull and tracks, but shares the same turret.  Care may need to be taken in supporting the MG on the side of the Commander's cupola, but otherwise the printing should be straightforward.

The product is offered for personal, non-commercial use.  Derivative designs for personal use may be generated, but neither the original nor derivatives may be shared with others.  Attribution of the design is requested should printed models be exhibited or otherwise shared.  Models printed from this design or derivatives may not be sold commercially.
