Temeraire-class French ship of the line (74 gun) - 1782 - 1862

Temeraire-class 74 gun French ship of the line.
A series of 120 ships ordered and built from 1782 to 1832. In service from 1782 through to 1862. The type was and remains the most numerous class of capital ship ever built to a single design.

Can also be used for the British Pompée-class, 2 74 gun ships of the line based on the French Pompée Temeraire-class ship. British names were HMS Superb and HMS Achilles.

The ship hull and shape was built as accurately as possible to various plans. The hull under the waterline was then removed and the upper parts were simplified in detail at the bow, thickened in the stern, windows exaggerated, and deck detail exaggerated. All this to be able to print out at 1:700 (and larger) scales. Smaller scales are possible but would likely require a resin printer for the best results.

• Ships Anchor

The sails are of a generic 3rd rate size and will be usable with other published 3rd rate ships. Does not include the ratlines, flags or rigging string. No supports are usually required on any part of an fdm print. Supports are required when resin printing

• The painted model is a resin 3d print which includes deck planking, cannons and gunports but without the latest detailed stern windows or hull paint lines.


• The grey coated model is an fdm 3d print of an earlier versin of the model. This version of the model now also contains deck planking, gunports and slightly simplified cannons.
