Stug III G ‘Sturmi’

The Stug III G known as the Sturmi by the Finns was purchased from Germany during WW2 as the Winter War had proved that the Finns existing armour was antiquated. As the Finns loved to do, many modifications were made which makes the Finnish Sturmi distinct from its German counterparts. Most recognisable of these changes are the addition of the rear stowage box, logs along the side of the hull and the addition of concrete reinforcement to the frontal armour. In addition the German mg34 was not used on top of the hull but rather captured DP-27 machine guns.

This file comes packed with loads of variants to choose from:

  • With and without zimmerit
  • Early welded gun mantlet and late cast ‘pigs snout’ mantlet
  • Commanders hatch open or closed
  • Options for either logs or spare wheels along the side of the hull
  • Options with and without additional concrete ‘armour’

Features include:

  • Pre-hollowed option
  • Pre-supported option
  • Option for either printing tracks attached to or separate to the hull
  • Optional magnetised gun barrel to switch between two different types of mantlet

This model has been designed with tabletop gaming in mind and I have aimed to get a suitable balance between details and durability and it has been test printed at 1:56 scale (native scale). I recommend printing tracks separately to get maximum detail from them.
