S-75 (SA-2 Guideline) missile transporter/loader

The S-75 (NATO SA-2 GUIDELINE) missile system was the first anti-aircraft system operationally deployed in large numbers. It was successful in the Vietnam War, resulting in the loss of many US aircraft. This model depicts the transporter/loader subsystem, based on the ZIL-157 towing vehicle. Typically six such vehicles were deployed per operational site (Russian nomenclature Battalion), and missile reloading could be completed with a few minutes of arrival of the unit at the launcher position. The kit comprises of three parts, the tractor unit, the semi-trailer and the missile. The missile is printed in one pass, and should provide no particular issues. The fins are slightly over-scale to ensure proper printing. The tractor unit is provided as a separate file for the basic ZIL-157, and a tractor unit superstructure that fits on the back of the unit, including spare wheels. Care needs to be take in removing supports from this unit, as the mudguards are quite thin, and the mating section somewhat fiddly. The semi-trailer is provided as a main body and a number of rails that need to be glued on in the appropriate places. These rails are also somewhat overscale to permit printing and handling, but give the appropriate look to the unit. A separate dolly wheel unit is also provided that can be fixed either up or down.
I have added a revised ZIL-157 cab, as the current design has caused some issues when printed on SLA printers (thin skins in places). It may also offer advantages on FDM printers, though I have had no problems with the current design. I hope this helps.
Further elements of the S-75 system are planned, including the launcher and supporting radars. The missile guidance radar SNR-75 is already available on this site.
The files in this design have been revised and cleaned. A missing file on the tractor unit was also added (25-10-2020).
The product is offered for personal, non-commercial use. Derivative designs for personal use may be generated, but neither the original nor derivatives may be shared with others. Attribution of the design is requested should printed models be exhibited or otherwise shared. Models printed from this design or derivatives may not be sold commercially.
