LAV-R Recovery Vehicle (USMC)

The LAV-R or Light Armoured Vehicle-Recovery is based on the LAV-25 armoured personnel carrier, used by the USMC.  This is a detailed 1:100 model offered in versions suitable for resin or filament printers.

The LAV-R has a raised roofline and is fitted with a boom crane and recovery winch to recover damaged or disabled vehicles, specially other LAVs. It is capable of righting overturned vehicles, and can also tow other LAVs with suspension and engine damage.  Initial requirement was for 46 of these vehicles for the USMC, manufactured in Canada.  These recovery vehicles have a crew of 3-4 men, including commander, driver, rigger and one additional crew member.

The model is a well detailed design, provided in two versions, one for resin printing, which is integrated with its wheels.  Variants in both hollow and solid versions are provided to suit personal preferences. A second solid hull is provided without wheels for printing on fdm systems, with the wheels provided as a separate file.  A separate crane (stowed) is provided to ease printing in fdm.  A strengthened 50 cal MG model is provided for fitting on the commander's cupola if so desired.

In further testing it has become clear that some of the handles on the model are not adequately fixed to the hull.  Updated versions of the hull files have been posted to address this deficiency.

The product is offered for personal, non-commercial use.  Derivative designs for personal use may be generated, but neither the original nor derivatives may be shared with others.  Attribution of the design is requested should printed models be exhibited or otherwise shared.  Models printed from this design or derivatives may not be sold commercially.
