Cromwell Mk. V

The Cruiser Mk. VIII, better known as the Cromwell, was a medium tank developed by the British during World War 2. Early models were armed with the 57mm 6-pdr gun; however this was quickly replaced with a 75mm. The Cromwell emphasized mobility over armor, achieving a top speed of 45mph (64 km/h). This made the vehicle incredibly flexible, and while it could not go head-to-head with opposing tanks, due to its maximum armor being 64mm on the hull and 77mm on the turret, it rarely needed to.

The Cromwell is one of the better-known vehicles fielded by the British during the second world war, being the main tank in their armored brigades. The Cromwell took part in the Allied invasion of Europe in 1944-1945. Furthermore, the tank received praise for its low profile, making it harder to spot and engage, which coupled with its mobility made it a force to be reckoned with.

This 1/72 scale model of the Cromwell replicates the Cromwell Mk. V variant, which was built to the Cromwell's final wartime specification, and mounting the 75mm main cannon. The model seeks to accurately represent this variant of the Cromwell through detailed replication of the vehicle using available schematics and images of surviving vehicles.
