Dutch K-class submarines (K-XI and K-XIV classes)

The XI class was a class of 3 Submarines (K XI, K XII and K XIII) of the Royal Netherlands Navy used in the Dutch colonial waters. All 3 ships saw service in WW2, with the K XIII being damaged by a battery explosion and scuttled to prevent capture by the Japanese.

  • K XI decommissioned April 1945

  • K XII decommissioned May 1944

  • K XIII scuttled March 1942

The XIV was a class of 5 Submarines of the Royal Netherlands Navy used in the Dutch colonial waters.

  • K XIV and K XV survived WW2.

  • K XVI sunk Dec 1941 by I 66

  • K XVII sunk Dec 1941 struck by a mine

  • K XVIII scuttled March 1942, later raised by the Japanese and used as an air warning picket hulk. Sunk June 1945 by HMS Taciturn.

The K XIV model comes in 4 different versions, to show the external twin torpedo mount.

The models are provided in 1/1000 scale and are Resin print only.

1/1800 - resize to 55,56%

1/1200 - resize to 83,5%

There are a number of bases provided, text recessed and the text raised. I used the recessed version for FDM printed bases. Finally a base without text is also included. Do not forget to also re-scale the bases if you print in 1/1200 or  1/1800 scale.

Bases are provided per submarine class and named bases for each Submarine in the K11 and K14 class.

Also included 1/1800 scale pre-supported models for each type which I used for the test-prints on my Anycubic Mono SE (0.05mm layer) using standard resin. Use at your own risk, might be best you create your own supported files, which prints best on you own printer. Some parts are rather delicate, mainly the gun barrels, and you will need to remove support carefully.

The base was printed on an Ender 5 pro (0.16 mm layer) standard PLA. But could also be printed in Resin if you want, which will provide a better print compared to my PLA printed bases. (no supported file provided)
