Weapon systems often receive unofficial names; think of predatory beasts such as the Tiger or Panther, or the shining knights of old, represented by the Crusader. When a weapon is referred to as “The Meat Chopper”, it is pretty clear that this is a nasty bit of kit. That is the American M45 quad HMG turret. The quad .50 turret was mounted on the M3 half track, and known as the M15 Motor Gun Carriage. A towed, fixed version was mounted on the M51 towed trailer. Lastly, it was mounted on the standard 2 ½ ton soft skin, the famous “deuce and a half”, creating a potent gun truck.
In Bolt Action version 3 the towed M51 mounted M45 is classified as “cumbersome” artillery, and requires a heavy tow vehicle, and is for some reason limited to twelve shots at ground targets. The M51 mounted gun is costed at 110 points at regular.
For five points less, you can get the same M45 quad HMG turret, on the back of a soft skin deuce and a half. Not only does the 24 HMG shots provide flak protection from air strikes, when parked along your deployment table edge, it acts as an effective Kaukopartio repellent.
The most prolific version of the deuce and a half was the GMC CWC 353. This .stl pack has files for both resin and FDM printing. The FDM files designed for maximized contact with the build plate, and where necessary, have been thickened and simplified for filament printing. The resin .stl pack included the standard as well as hollowed and pre-supported files.
This pack offers a separate rear box to mount the included M45 quad HMG turret. The resin gun turret is the same from the M51 gun pack, but without the trailer. The FDM version has a simpler turret, without the gunner figure.
Lastly there is a rear box tarpaulin cover which fits over both the cargo box and the gun turret box, so you can use the gun truck model as a transport by just removing the turret and popping the cargo cover on.
