CSS Patrick Henry
Sister to CSS Jamestown!
CSS Patrick Henry led a similar life to her sister ship CSS Jamestown. She was built at the same shipyard and carried passengers along a similar route from New York to Richmond. She also happened to be in Richmond when the war broke out and was seized by the navy. The highlight of her career would also be the assisting of CSS Virginia during the Battle of Hampton Roads, and would also accompany her in her handful of sorties in the months after the battle. After Norfolk was surrendered, Patrick Henry and the rest of the squadron moved upriver to Drewry's Bluff where she would see no more significant combat actions and would be turned into an academy ship. She remained an academy ship, housing the Confederate States Naval Academy training midshipmen, until Richmond fell in April 1865 when she was burned to prevent capture. After the surrender of Richmond, her midshipmen were given the task to deliver almost $500,000 Confederate dollars to the new capitol of Danville, VA. I have a feeling this has something to do with the "lost Confederate gold" but no definite connection has been made...yet. Upon reaching Danville the detachment was disbanded and each man was given $40 in gold to aide him in returning home.
This ship is modeled in 1/600 scale and can be printed using any resin or FDM printer. Ship comes with and without base.
When printing in FDM, some details may be too small to print with a stock 0.4mm nozzle.
