CSS Chicora

Useless Charleston ironclad!

Laid down in Charleston in 1862, her career would mostly consist of sitting idly in Charleston Harbor looking intimidating. There were a handful of times when she and her sister, CSS Palmetto State, were sent to attempt and break the blockade. The most notable of these actions was on January 31, 1863 when the two ships ventured out against the blockade. Chicora served little purpose in this attack, Palmetto State did all the heavy lifting by disabling two ships. Chicora engaged other ships with long range cannon fire dealing little damage. She also took part in defending Charleston against Rear Admiral Du Pont's attack in April 1863. Later that same year, Chicora also held the honor of supplying the first crew for the ill-fated submarine H.L. Hunley. Chicora would take part in the fighting around Charleston for the remainder of the war. She would be destroyed when Charleston was evacuated to prevent her being captured.

This ship is modeled in 1/600 scale and can be printed using any resin or FDM printer. Ship comes with and without base.

When printing in FDM, some details may be too small to print with a stock 0.4mm nozzle.
